T H E G R E A T W A L L

Landed safely in Beijing. To one-digit degree weather ... brrr. Having a day off is rare during any FE race so I took the opportunity with the PR girls to go and do what I didn't have time to do last year ... see the Great Wall of China.
Picture

*
It was just under a two hour drive from the centre of Beijing. As we left the grey smog of the city behind, the colours of autumn were slowly showing emerging from the edges of the highway. Yellows, reds and oranges flickered on the branches of tall, slim trees.

*

Finally getting to the Wall, we learn we have just under an hour before the whole show shuts down. Great. Guess there''' be no trecking today.

*

Without offending the cultural importance of the Wall ... the toboggan slide down was probably the most highly anticipated feature of the expedition that everyone was looking most forward too. For sure, if another trip to Beijing happens I'd like to take a day and treck from one end to the other. But for now, that steep, fast glide down the mountain between the harvesting trees and views of rolling hills made that two hour journey back well worth the effort.

PRE - FASHION WEEK PARTY

Fashion week is looming
and no doubt the fitness centres of London are filled with models freakishly trying to shed those last grams in between fittings.

Ride Republic joined forces with EKAT to make an event out of inspiring a healthy approach to fitness.

SWEAT, SPIN AND STRUT

Fashion and fitness bloggers and models dressed up in EKAT suits and spun away under the guidance of trainer Rachel and music by myself.

After the class, the event continued on in the cafe where raw goodies provided by Tanya's Cafe and girly beats by myself. Madonna, Diana Ross and Amy Whinehouse all got airplay.

NEW MIX - THE GOLDEN HOUR

Sunsets always get me. They have the ability to bring people together for that short period of time, a unity that agrees and is positive. They let us marvel and wonder at the beauty of the world. Leave us speechless and in awe.

This mix was something I'd wanted to create for a long time now. I'd witnessed many incredible sunsets in my life. But none like those in Ibiza.

Everyone agrees there is some magical force field, an energy that surrounds the island. The sunsets are a stamp of confirmation to that.

Picture

When choosing the tracks, originally I was sitting on the terrace of an old Ibizencan villa, perched just off a cliff in Cala Moli. The Western part of Ibiza, know for it's fiery sunsets. I'd created playlist that reflected that still, calm beauty yet held a grandeur of emotions.

The playlist then morphed into the mix that I have published. Designed to be played before a sunset or even during sunrise. I hope you enjoy! Izx

Morning raves. Neon sports wear. Protein cocktails.
Health is the word on everyone's lips these days.

Putting a fitness spin on those things we love
seem to remove the guilt. The last week I've been prepping for the launch of Ride Republic. An indoor cycling studio that's committed to making fitness fun. The studio is like a disco. Rave lights, sound system and here I come in ... the DJ.

On Monday we saw fit girls from STORM Model Management taking the pedals, today members of the press and tomorrow night Ride Republic welcomes the you!
To celebrate the launch there will be demonstrations, raw treats from Tanya's Cafe and music by me!

Throughout the year we'll be teaming up to bring Music Cycle sessions where you can sweat it out to the latest tunes.

MONACO RACE DAY

The E-motion Club, where I spent most of the day, was high above the track with a stunning view of the port and the royal headquarters high above. The Prince himself made a visit, as did his watchful security guard. At least this time I didn't have a wine in hand.

This was a momentous occasion for FE, as we were on the stomping ground of F1. The industry heavyweights didn't think we could make it this far ... but at race number seven, here we are still going strong.

FORMULA E x MONACO

When you think of Monaco, a few things spring to mind. Princess Grace, Formula 1, cheesy clubs, worse music and tax-free.

This weekend Formula E was injected in that vocab list with it's seventh race and the magical events that lead up to it. I have to admit, from my perspective this was one of the hardest races. I played every night from Wednesday to Sunday.
-
The event officially took off with the glamarous royal gala dinner, held at the Monte Carlo Casino. I was the first, and probably only DJ to spin tunes in the casino room. The poker tables and pokies had been taken away. In their place round tables adorned with crystal glasses, silver candelabras and bouquets of peonies in blushing colours.

Prince Albert was a guest of honour and led the charity auction. Natalie Imbruglia sang. Prince Albert's security guard said I drank too much. If one glass of wine constitutes as being an alcoholic, well then ... guilty.
The night ended with a private party on a boat docked at Port Hercule, right in front of the race track.

Tracklist:
Fade Out Lines ( Marcapasos remix) - The Avener
No Eyes feat. Jaw (MYNGA remix) - Claptone
Uruguay (EDX's Dubai Skyline Radio Edit) - Nora En Pure & Sons of Maria
Born to do this - Steve Mill

The first weekend of Pret-a-Diner has passed with a blast! We partied till the early hours on both Friday and Saturday nights, with guests ready for their night ahead.

The Domino Room, the restaurant in Cafe Royal, was lavishly transformed into a sensual den with bright neon lights overcasting colours of pink and blue onto the bohemian table settings. The DJ booth, draped in luxurious red velvet, stood in the centre for a watchful eye over the diners and partyers.

Tracklist:
- Cooler Than Me (Eau Claire Remix) - Mike Posner
- Half Baked (Maceo Plex Deep Remix) - Jin Choi
- Jorg - Monkey Safari
What I Might Do (Moodwax to the Stars) - Ben Pearce
Falling in Love - Vario

Pret-a-Diner is on for another four weeks, make sure not to miss out on this unique experience!

David Bowie was here. Brigitte Bardot too. Princess Di dined. Oscar Wilde pondered ... From rogues to royals, these walls have seen them all.

This week will see the start of my weekly appearance at the famed Pret-a-diner event. This dining experience takes over the restaurant at Cafe Royal with a Bohemian theme. Cascading flowers from candle chandeliers, neon lights and oil canvas portraits decorate the lavish setting.
Get ready for all senses to be touched. I'll be the music to your ears on weekends, so book now and don't miss out!

Fashion events. I love them. They usually mean a few things:

- free flowing booze
- free catering
- free theatre

...theatre in the form of " Zoolander Live". And when you're the DJ you have top bill spot. The Belstaff event was slightly a different affair though ...

Leather clad, stylish men and women poured into the store. It's preview time! A more accessible version of a catwalk, when the latest threads get laid down and the fashion elite get first dibs.

Thanks to Belstaff for dressing me up in the best red leather jacket I've ever laid eyes on.

Tracklist:
- Liquid Spirit (Claptone remix) - Gregory Porter
- Heart of Glass ( Oliver and Tee Mike B remix) - Blondie
- Fade Out Lines (Marcapasos remix) - The Avener

BEAT

Just as my margarita arrives in all it's lemon sour glory, a phone call whisks me away to the darkest depths of London. My debut at BEAT Club was on call with 20 minutes notice - but luckily I had a few tracks that I wanted to bust out specifically for the late owls.

BEAT is where every DJ in London wants to play. It's the West End mecca for deep, dark'n'dirty tunes. Where the crowd is a little more flexible with tech sounds being thrown at them whilst they order magnums and sip champagne. Many club owners argue that this kind of music will not survive in the West, but BEAT has proved otherwise.
Big shout out to my sister Shannon for being there by my side the whole set through. It really makes a difference when you have a few friends around, your confidence levels soar and you have much more fun dancing with someone.
